Throughout the Bible we find examples of this encouragement to continue on in life’s race toward a goal or a prize. 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 says we are to run straight toward that goal, denying ourselves whatever is potentially harmful. The Bible says we are to discipline our bodies and train our minds in order to be the best soldiers we can be. Our reward is clear. Earthly suffering is short.
